Who Needs a Hamptons Summer House When You Can Go Glamping?

Wednesday Mar 20, 2019

Luxury camping (aka "glamping") is coming to New York's East End with every luxury that summer visitors expect.

Terra Glamping, the Brooklyn-based glamping and event production company that pioneered this high-end form of outdoor recreation on the East Coast, will launch an expansive site overlooking Gardiners Bay in East Hampton's Cedar Point County Park.

The company was selected by the Suffolk County Parks Department, who publicly issued a request for proposals with the goal of introducing new ventures that would attract more campers to Cedar Point.

"The outdoor adventure meets modern luxury aesthetic of glamping is an ideal fit for East Hampton and we're thrilled to be the first company to offer this new option for seasonal getaways to area vacationers and residents alike," said Terra Glamping co-founder and CEO Rebecca Martin. "Cedar Point County Park is a picturesque location with lush forests and miles of coastline, an ideal setting for the Terra Glamping experience."

Best known for its previous seasonal glamping hotels in the Catskills and the Rockaways, as well as pop-up events in New York City and beyond, Terra Glamping: East Hampton is pulling out all the stops so guests can enjoy the outdoors in style.

The Cedar Point resort will feature 30 fully furnished beautifully designed sleeping tents with queen-sized beds, six-foot decks featuring seating and views of the water, two lounge tents with couches, books and board games, dining tent, bathroom and shower facilities, fully stocked grilling and fire pit, and additional outdoor furnishings including hammocks.

For further comfort and community, each morning will begin with a continental breakfast of fresh coffee, fine teas, local pastries, fruit, yogurt, and homemade granola. Nightly, guests can gather around the campfire and enjoy a gourmet s'mores bar.

In addition to the relaxing accommodations, Terra Glamping: East Hampton has guests covered when it comes to activities: there will be an array of programming throughout the summer such as sunrise yoga, live music, movie nights, wellness festivals, and farm-to-table dinners with guest chefs. Kayaks and stand-up paddleboards will also be available for guests to use on Gardiners Bay.

"There is something for everyone to enjoy this summer as glamping is coming to Cedar Point County Park in East Hampton," said Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone. "This latest camping trend allows residents and visitors alike to enjoy an outdoor adventure with luxury amenities at one of our many stunning County parks."

Terra Glamping: East Hampton opens Memorial Day Weekend and will operate daily through Monday, September 2, followed by weekends-only through October 27, 2019.
