Blumhouse's LGBTQ+ horror movie "They/Them" (pronounced "They Slash Them") starring Kevin Bacon, will hit the Peacock streaming service on August 5 and the company is sharing a number of first-look pictures from the film.

As previously reported, "They/Them" was written by out screenwriter John Logan and will serve as his directorial debut. Logan has earned Oscar nominations for his work on "Gladiator," "The Aviator" and "Hugo." He also created the Showtime series "Penny Dreadful" and penned the book for the jukebox musical "Moulin Rouge! The Musical."

Bacon will play Owen Whistler, the director of a conversion therapy camp — a discredited practice that aims to "turn" LGBTQ+ youth straight and cisgender.

"Set over a week-long session at the camp, the film focuses on the various campers, led by trans and nonbinary Jordan (Theo Germaine), as they undergo psychological torment from the camp's programming," Variety wrote of the upcoming film. "When an unidentified killer begins claiming victims, the kids must team up to protect each other, both from the killer and from the camp staff."

"They/Them," described as a slasher, also stars Anna Chlumsky ("Veep"), who will play Carrie Preston, one of the staff members at Camp Whistler. Along with Bacon, Germaine, and Chlumsky, the film features Quei Tann, Austin Crute, Monique Kim, Anna Lore, Cooper Koch and Darwin del Fabro who play camp members.

"'They/Them' has been germinating within me my whole life," Logan said in a statement. "I've loved horror movies as long as I can remember, I think because monsters represent 'the other' and as a gay kid I felt a powerful sense of kinship with those characters who were different, outlawed, or forbidden. I wanted to make a movie that celebrates queerness, with characters that I never saw when I was growing up. When people walk away from the movie, I hope they're going to remember the incredible love that these kids have for each other and how that love needs to be protected and celebrated."

Both Logan and Bacon will serve as executive producers along with Scott Turner Schofield, Howie Young, and Jon Romano. Jason Blum and Michael Aguilar are producing for Blumhouse.
