Christian Rapper Makes Anti-Gay Version of 'Same Love'

An anti-gay cover of Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' Grammy Award-winning marriage equality hit "Same Love" was released this week by Christian Houston-based rapper Bizzle.the Houston Chronicle reports.

Bizzle, who is more known for an e-fight with Jay Z than the merits of his music, offered his response to "Same Love," which made headlines this week after Macklemore performed the song on Sunday night's Grammy Awards with Madonna and Queen Latifah, who officiated the marriages of more than 30 gay and straight couples. Bizzle's track, renamed "Same Love (A Response)," samples the same instrumentals as the original but Bizzle raps his own lyrics, criticizing the original's comparisons between the gay rights movement and the civil rights movement.

Some choice lyrics (via Hip Hop DX):

"You rather fight God than fight sin / The Bible is alright until it calls what you like sin / And I feel so disrespected that you were so desperate / You would compare your sexual habits to my skin / Calling it 'the new black?' Tell me, where they do that? / They hung us like tree ornaments, where were you at? / They burned us for entertainment, you go through that?"

Bizzle also raps that being gay is a choice (via Towle Road):

"Man I ain't choose this! You think you chose that? Well I was born this? Well prove me you were born that."

Towleroad also points out lyrics that suggest Bizzle links gay men to pedophiles:

"You were never oppressed. The devil was a liar / The only thing oppressed was your sexual desire / Keeping your desires oppressed is so lame to you / But when you get married that's what you expect your mate to do / It angers you if I compare you to a pedophile / Because he's sick, right, and you're better, how?"

Bizzle posted the song to SoundCloud. It has more than 33,000 plays and 645 likes. The track was also posted to YouTube. There, it has nearly 16,000 views and nearly 600 likes.
