Teen GOP Candidate Quits Race After More Homophobic, Racist Comments Emerge

It appears as though the political career of 19-year-old Jacob Dorsey is over.

The GOP candidate for Wisconsin State Assembly who drew fire last week over a tweet where he used an anti-gay slur has suspended his campaign after more homophobic and racist comments he made on YouTube surfaced. LGBTQ Nation reports.

After apologizing for a tweet he sent on December 25, 2013 where he expressed his displeasure with Utah's same sex marriages by saying "fags need 2 leave my favorite state alone," Dorsey once again found himself in the hot seat, when more comments made by the teen on social media surfaced.

"Guys in this video are fags" Dorsey wrote about a video by The Band Perry. "I hate your gay, fag videos" was a comment he left after viewing an ad for Ralph Lauren footwear on Zappos' channel. "Niggers trash cars. I'm not selling my town care to one..." was a comment he left for a video of a 2002 Lincoln Town Car lowrider.

In a statement made to The Gazette, Dorsey said "I have decided to withdraw from the race due to insensitive remarks that have surfaced from years past. This race has been extremely hard on my family and myself."

According to WCLO, Dorsey is ending his campaign against Democrat Deb Kolste of Janesville. Dorsey's name, however, will remain on the ballot for the Nov. 4 election.
