New Repertory Theatre announces "Stronger than the Wind" written and performed by Alice Manning, March 22-April 5, 2015 in the Black Box Theater at the Arsenal Center for the Arts, 321 Arsenal Street, Watertown, MA. Tickets are $36 and may be purchased by calling the New Rep Box Office at 617-923-8487 or visiting newrep.org. Student, senior, and group discounts are available.

With "Stronger than the Wind," Alice Manning returns to Boston after many years on the West Coast. From here she will be traveling the country with her relatively new, autobiographical play, and she will be performing it in Bakersfield, CA and at the Hollywood Fringe Festival. Originally from Cleveland, she now resides in Santa Monica, CA.

After giving birth to her twin boys, Manning finally had everything she wanted. This is where the play begins. But a twist of fate and a hospital error left her newborn son, Aidan, fighting for his life.

In her solo performance, Alice fights to keep her family afloat in the midst of unspeakable trauma and fear. On this personal rollercoaster ride, she discovers the power of laughter and how to choose love during even the darkest times. A true story of Alice's family struggle with ongoing medical trauma and special needs, Carl Reiner describes it as one of the handful of shows that he couldn't stop talking about.

"It is with great pleasure that we celebrate the remarkable work of women theatre-makers in three diverse one-woman performances," says Artistic Director, Jim Petosa. "The second in this series is a humorous and touching work from playwright and performer Alice Manning, based on the true story of her young son's medical challenges shortly after his birth. Alice's tale of adversity is told with remarkable wit and charm, and we are pleased to include it in our second annual Next Rep Black Box Festival."

"In the second year of our Next Rep Black Box Festival, we continue to present adventurous, intimate plays that allow audiences to connect on a personal level," says Managing Director, Harriet Sheets. "We're pleased to welcome playwright and performer Alice Manning to New Rep to present her heartwarming true story in "Stronger than the Wind." New Rep audiences will surely be moved by her unflappable grace and humor in this wonderful one woman show."

"Stronger than the Wind" runs from March 22-April 5 in the Black Box Theater at the Arsenal Center for the Arts (321 Arsenal Street, Watertown, MA). For more information and tickets visit newrep.org or call 617-923-8487.
