Austin Gay & Lesbian International Film Festival Announces 2015 Line-Up

The Austin Gay & Lesbian International Film Festival (aGLIFF) is excited to announce the entire 2015 film line up taking place at Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar over four days, September 10-13, 2015.

"We are excited to announce this season's schedule. Our 28th season promises to be our best one yet. aGLIFF is grateful to the community for their continued support and our generous sponsors and we're looking forward to a great festival this September," said Charlie Ray, aGLIFF Board of Directors President.

Opening the festival, Thursday Sept 10, will be the Texas premiere of director Andrew Nackman's, "Fourth Man Out" starring Chord Overstreet ("Glee"), Parker Young ("Suburgatory"), Kate Flannery, ("The Office") and Evan Todd. On his 24th birthday, Adam (Todd), a small-town mechanic, decides it's time to finally tell his friends and family that he's gay. "Fourth Man Out" is a lighthearted and unexpectedly subversive comedy about coming out of the blue-collar closet has been receiving national and international acclaim. It recently won the Narrative Audience Award at June's, Inside Out festival in Toronto, Canada and the Dramatic Audience Award at Outfest in Los Angeles, CA this past weekend. Director Nackman, Producer Lauren Avinoam and star Todd are expected to attend opening night.

Closing aGLIFF, Sunday September 13, will be the documentary, "The State of Marriage" directed by Jeff Kaufman. This will be the second U.S. festival screening of "The State of Marriage" after world premiering at the Provincetown Film Festival in June. The untold story is how legal pioneer Mary Bonauto partnered with small town Vermont lawyers Beth Robinson and Susan Murray in a two-decade long struggle that built the foundation for the entire marriage equality movement and how Vermont became the first state in the U.S. to introduce civil unions in 2000 and same sex marriages in 2009. Kaufman will be doing a post-Skype Q & A following the screening.

aGLIFF Program Director Jim Brunzell said, "We'll have over 35 visiting filmmakers and screen over 70 films this season. Many films will be making their World, U.S., Southwest and Texas premieres at aGLIFF." Festival badges are on sale at www.agliff.org and individual film tickets will go on sale August 30.

The Austin Gay and Lesbian International Film Festival (aGLIFF) was founded in 1987 and is the fourth oldest LGBT Film Festival in the United States. aGLIFF has grown tremendously in size and scope from a short four-day run of films primarily focused on coming out and AIDS to a multifaceted nonprofit organization with year-round community programs that culminate in our annual film festival program, with over 70 films depicting a myriad of issues across cultures, race, immigration status, class, gender identity and expression, age, and region.

QYMP (Queer Youth Media Project) is a week long summer camp for LGBT Youth and is part of our mission as aGLIFF. Each year, area high school students write, star in, and edit a film for its premier at the festival. QYMP is made possible through donations to aGLIFF and arts grants.
