Andrea Marks Joseph READ TIME: 2 MIN.
Welcome to our latest round-up of queer celebs who served, and those who came together to maximize their joint slay.
This week: Twin brothers and DSQUARED2 designers Dean & Dan Caten are deeply slayful dressed up as KISS for their Arena HOMME+ covershoot; and Janelle Monáe and Oscar-winning costume designer Paul Tazewell came together to maximize their joint slay with a dual Met Gala look that will go down in fashion's history books.
We also have drag performer Tayce reached new heights of slayage, serving hair and eye contact in a way that leaves us speechless; Out singer David Archuleta is in his sensual diva era with his new song "Can I Call You?;" Bobby Berk shared a wonderful series of throwback photos, taking us through 22-years with his husband; and trans marathoner Cal Calamia won the London Marathon's nonbinary division, simultaneously making global queer history. Let's dive into all the good, gay gold!
"They try to tell us we don't belong; That's all right, we're millions strong!" Served may not be a strong enough word for the magic of DSQUARED2 designers Dean & Dan Caten styled as KISS, their collaborators for a recent fashion line. The twin brothers star on the cover of ArenaHOMME+ in sheer tights, heels, and the iconic facepaint-and-wig combo the rock band is known for. It's slayful and spectacular!
Queer musician Janelle Monáe and "Wicked" costume designer Paul Tazewell, who made history this year as the first Black man to win an Oscar for costume design, came together for a dual joint slay on the Met Gala carpet, with one stunning Thom Browne look opening up to reveal another one!
We are, frankly, speechless over this Tayce moment, and how could we not be? She's serving hair, cropped jacket, glowing skin and phenomenal face beat, all with this powerful striking stare directly into the camera... The Welsh drag queen is slaying like no one has slayed before!
Out musician David Archuleta is serving sultry diva with his "Can I Call You?" album art. We love to see the queer artist in his sensual era. This song, which opens with a recording of someone saying "Are you up?" and continues with the artist describing how much he wants the person he's singing to... Yeah, we're here for it!
Former "Queer Eye" host Bobby Berk celebrating his 22-year anniversary with husband Dewey Do is a joint slay we're so proud to share. He wrote in the caption that "people said [they] wouldn't last," but make it they did! Queer love wins again!
More queer history worth celebrating: Trans marathoner Cal Calamia won the London Marathon's nonbinary division, and simultaneously made history as the first athlete to complete all six World Marathon Major events (Chicago, Boston, NYC, Berlin, Tokyo, London) in the nonbinary category –and did so by placing first or second in every marathon! Icon behavior.
